Role Overview
Smart FT is expanding its rail capabilities and is seeking an experienced Rail Electrical Engineer to support live infrastructure and maintenance projects on London and Kent routes.

We plan, manage and deliver structured rail projects end to end, with clear communication, strong compliance and disciplined reporting.

This role is for engineers who are experienced in live rail environments and understand the standards required to operate safely and professionally.

The Role
You will be part of a team delivering electrical maintenance and infrastructure works within live rail and possession environments.

Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Electrical maintenance and small works across rail assets
  • Installation and upgrade works within rail environments
  • Working in live and possession settings
  • Testing, fault-finding and corrective works
  • Supporting structured handovers and completion reporting
  • Working closely with delivery managers to ensure works are properly planned and executed

Our projects are delivered through a structured operational model. Planning, coordination and documentation are as important as technical ability. We operate in environments where safety and compliance are non-negotiable.

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven electrical experience within rail or similar safety critical environments
  • Experience working within live rail or possession environments
  • ECS or JIB Gold Card preferred
  • Strong understanding of rail safety and compliance standards
  • Comfortable working within a structured, documented delivery process
  • Professional, reliable and accountable

PTS certification recorded on Sentinel is desirable.
For the right candidates Smart FT can support PTS and Sentinel sponsorship.

Desirable

  • Experience across Kent or London routes
  • Testing and inspection qualifications
  • Experience supporting maintenance contracts
  • Familiarity with digital reporting systems
